Really, I don't know what's going on in schools these days and more to the point, the thought process that goes through some people's heads.
It's obviously not easy being a school teacher or administrator these days especially when it comes to enforcing disciplinary regulations covering student behavior within the school environment. All students have to abide have a certain decorum within the classroom and on occasion, the system is tested to the point of ridiculousness.
Take for example the case of a 6-year old Colorado boy who was suspended from class for kissing a fellow female student's hand. Really.
According to the boy's mother, since the boy had been suspended before for kissing the same girl's hand, it's being construed as sexual harassment. Two hand kisses is obviously one kiss too many.
The boy, for his part, says that he has a crush on the girl and she likes him back and the offending kiss took place during class while in a reading group.
During the meeting with the school principal, the mother of the kiss-er was shocked when the term "sexual harassment was brought up during the meeting.
C'mon people! Sexual harassment over a hand kiss, by a 6 year old student, in class no less? Gimme a break! We're not talking here about a student bringing a weapon into class or a physical confrontation. The offending act was a buss on the hand.
The suspension was due, according to a school official, because of a policy against unwanted touching. So readers of this blog, what do you think about the boy's suspension? Is it justified or political correctness gone awry?

Political correctness gone too far?
Many people reading this will recall as children, participating in a sack race or three legged race during sports day and ending up no worse for wear. Well that was then as they say, and this is now with a school in Washington banning the two old and popular events due to what they claim is fear of injury.
"PC" school officials who were concerned that the primary school pupils could fall over and suffer bruising, were assailed by critics for banning the two events.
Yeah so what? I mean, so the children fall down and get grass skids...or a bruise here and there. All part of the game and being kids!
Teachers at the John F Kennedy Primary in Washington, Tyne and Wear, dropped the events after talks with Beamish Open Air Museum, where an Edwardian-themed sports day is being held today. The day called for children to dress up in period costumes and play old-fashioned-type games, which included running, hopping and throwing ping-pong balls into pails.
Laura Midgely, founder of the Campaign Against Political Correctness group, said: “It’s health and safety gone mad, completely over the top.”

Santas' told to "ha-ha-ha" instead of "ho-ho-ho" - political correctness gone awry!
If ever there was/is a "Gimme a Break" story - this is it.
Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Santa's traditional "ho-ho-ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women. Only "ha-ha-ha" will do.
Say what??????????????????????????????
You read it right! That jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus has been told not to "ho-ho-ho" when doing a fly over Australia.
One disgruntled Santa told a newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho-ho-ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
Plllleeeze!
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho-ho-ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she said when interviewed by a newspaper.
"Leave Santa alone."
Amen to that!
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.
A more scary aspect of this is if the idea spreads outside Australia and Santas around the world will be allowed to ha-ha-ha only. Talk about PC gone awry!
